Recovered Wood Market Study

EC sustainable has recently completed a market research analysis to aid the sustainable recovery of wood in the Sydney Metropolitan Area (SMA) and the Extended Regulated Area (ERA) of NSW. The project:

• Outlines and develops industry knowledge on the various established and emerging markets for post-consumer timber in NSW.
• Establishes the structure of each market in terms of specifications and regulations, barriers and opportunities.
• Recommends possible strategies to increase the flow of material to each application.
• Develops market demand profiles including market forecasting and scenarios.

The project includes data from an extensive literature review and industry and stakeholder primary research including written surveys, phone surveys and interviews. The report is designed for decision makers and industry participants to inform the development of policies, strategies and programs to maximise demand creation opportunities and increase diversion of secondary wood and timber from landfill.
