Gosford City Council Achieves Above Average Waste and Recycling Performance

A recent survey of residential waste and recycling conducted by EC Sustainable showed that Gosford City Council area residents are performing above the state average in recycling.

Residents have made improvements since previous surveys according to Council’s waste manager James Lawson.

The report developed by EC Sustainable showed the main achievements are:

  • A lower red lid bin waste weight compared with the state average.
  • A decrease in the amount of non-recyclable material (contamination) in the yellow lid recycling bins.
  • A decrease in the amount of non-recyclable material (contamination) in the green lid garden organics bins.
  • A higher percentage of overall waste material being recycled, compared to previous survey, meaning more resources have been recycled in the correct bins.

Council and it’s contractor will continue to lead best practice in the Gosford area. Future surveys will measure changes in performance through time.
