EC Sustainable undertakes analysis of the components of Mixed Solid Waste (MSW) to characterise components by weight and volume that are destined for landfilling or processing (recovery and recycling). This can be undertaken prior to collection or post-collection at the time when loads are discharged.

MSW contains a high component of recoverable resources as well as inert and occasionally toxic material (e.g. batteries, oils, paints etc.), and general waste items. From this information EC can design strategy options or specific programs to meet the operational goals and objectives of the facility.

EC also has broad experience in the conduct of compositional analysis specifically for MSW that is to be processed through a dedicated resource recovery facility, and in particular where compliance with a processor’s input specification is required.
