Carbon Offsets in the Yarra Yarra Biodiversity Corridor
EC Sustainable supports Australian Biodiverse Reforestation Carbon Offsets in the Yarra Yarra Biodiversity Corridor
EC Sustainable is committed to continuing to reduce our carbon emissions by:
- Reducing energy use;
- Using 100% Greenpower in our offices;
- Operating Hybrid vehicles where possible; and
- Offsetting fuel use through carbon credits.
Continuing our annual relationship with Carbon Neutral, for Financial Year 2023-24, EC Sustainable has purchased 60 tonnes of Australian Biodiverse Reforestation Carbon Offsets in the Yarra Yarra Biodiversity Corridor of the northern wheatbelt of Southwestern Australia. This supports the planting of native Australian trees.
The Yarra Yarra Biodiversity Corridor has an exceptionally high number of plant and animal species found nowhere else in the world. It has been identified as one of 35 global biodiversity hotspots for wildlife and plants, and the first one identified in Australia. To date, Carbon Neutral and planted over 30 million mixed native species trees and shrubs in the Yarra Yarra Biodiversity Corridor. This is part of their process of restoring 13,500 hectares of Australian rural native landscapes.
