EC Sustainable assisted a beachside Sydney Council to plan, manage and monitor the installation of public place recycling systems.

Pre and post installation audits were conducted. The system was deemed functioning effectively and resulted in a significant  amount of resources being recovered, that would otherwise have been disposed of in landfill. The stations were particularly effective at recovering glass, metals and plastics.

Approximately 50% of the material was being recovered when the project was being monitored. The project also included litter audits covering the type and location of litter. Litter reduction strategies were developed to target the key locations, litter types and source generators identified.
